How limited would I be with with a drone?

I've been considering getting a drone for quite some time. I'm looking at the DJI Mavic Pro Platinum Aerial Camera Bundle from Costco.My friend was telling me that you can't fly them in certain areas (all national parks, close to airports, etc.).
