Can someone please ELI5 all the new rules regarding paid drone work ?

I’ve owned a DJI Phantom 3 for about 3 years snow and used to use it all the time on video shoots but I have been hesitant lately because of the new laws and guidelines. I don’t particularly understand them and want to know what is actually enforced, the consequences, etc. I would say drone work is only about 5% of the video I’ve used so I am wondering if it is worth getting whatever certificates would be needed. Is there any loop holes (like doing the drone work for “free” but charging for the preproduction)?Hope this post can help someone besides myself as well !If it helps I am in USA.
