Yesterday I was flying my Phantom 4 Pro out by a farm for a project I was hired to work on. Mid flight I received a compass error (I've had these occasionally pop up the go away before). I brought it around to land it but not before the motors turned off and it crashed. I assumed some kind of hardware failure caused the issue, however the owner of a farm next to me said they lost their drone the same way and believes it has something to do with interference from the electric generation from a dam nearby(about 2 miles). The streams from lake run through the farm and you can hear the generation nearby. I had been flying with GPS mode originally for about an hour without issues (occasional signal loss but I was in a pretty rural area in the mountains. When I began filming, I switched to Active track for 50 seconds before the crash.Has anyone experienced something like this?Basically, I want know if this farm will claim the next drone regardless of what I do or if it was equipment/user error? via /r/drones https://ift.tt/2uzB2x7
