Getting into drone programming but need to select a dev platform

Am brand knew to this community and love what I see!I'm looking to develop commercial applications like autonomous home (exterior) inspections and also be able to interface with third-party hardware (like thermal cameras). I'd say I'm an advanced programmer; however, I've never programmed drones and I don't know much of the physics (hopefully most of this is abstracted by libraries). I've looked into ArduPilot and Auterion. I don't want to use DJI since I'm not banking on their long term viability in the U.S. (saw news about data leaks to China, don't want to take the risk).I'm wondering what drones, developer SDKs/platforms, or even online courses the community recommends? via /r/drones https://ift.tt/2Yt6Tgx
