Could battery life be increased by disabling the obstacle avoiding and other sensors?

I know it sounds like suicide but I plan to fly in open spaces so the sensors feel a little redundant to me. And the 16 minutes of real flight time of the Mavic Air that I'm considering buying feel a little underwhelming via /r/drones https://ift.tt/2Pui32S
