Which drone for hill-walking and mountaineering?

Hi all - I'm an avid hill-walker with an interest in scrambling and winter mountaineering, mostly in my home country of Scotland, and I'm looking for a done to take up the Scottish mountains to capture some scrambling, ridge traverses, extreme summit views etc. I have had no experience of flying drones so far, but am fortunate enough to have access to a lot of wild space behind the town I live in (not in any restricted areas) to practice. So I was initially looking at three drones - Mavic Air, Mavic Mini and Parrot Anafi as they seem to be the best in terms of reputation, weight, and cost. Each appears to have their pros and cons relative to the others:Mavic AirPros:Fastest (S mode)Some obstacle avoidancePossible the best feature set/softwareRelatively Quick chargingCons:Lowest flight time per batteryMost expensive of the threeLoudest (maybe alleviated somewhat with some replacement props)Heaviest of the threeMavic MiniPros:Longest (quoted) flight timeLightest drone - ideal for carrying up the mountainsDoesn't (currently) require CAA registration - not really a big deal for me thoughLeast expensive option (although I am looking to get it in the US during an upcoming trip to the office, as I have a $250 amazon voucher on Amazon US)Cons:No obstacle avoidance at allHighly susceptible to wind - a big issue on the Scottish mountainsLimited feature set - no auto track (other than the quickshots), limited exposure settings and no RAW.Parrot AnafiPros:Allegedly more stable in wind / deals with a higher wind speed180 vertical camera movement - the only one that can point straight upFairly decent feature set - auto track, waypoints, DNG supportRelatively quietCons:2-axis (mechanical) gimbal with 3rd axis stabilization not as good as the 3-axis of the MavicsBulkier remote than the Mavic remoteNo obstacle avoidanceHDR mode is really not very good (noisy and over-saturated)I'm sure there are many other factors I've missed hence why I'm asking for advice here. Really, I think I'd be satisfied with the Mini save for the most important factor - the wind. It's rarely not windy up on the tops, and I realize that on many days, none of these dones will be able to fly, but I feel like the Mini may limit my flying days more than the other two. Perhaps there are other options that could be recommended? The other thing I was looking for advice on, is with regards to climbing/scrambling. It seems like these drones all require the controller and phone to be connected and need to be available to hand but I'm wondering how others climb using both hands with a drone capturing the footage?TIA via /r/drones https://ift.tt/2MICWF4
