New to drone flying

Bought a JJRC, very cheap drone at that, cost about 80 bucks, has very basic camera, altitude hold and basic app being used on iphone. User manual is the pits and software not much better insofar as getting help.I want to learn to fly this drone so I selected this model of drone so I have to fly it rather than depending on automated flying such as follow me and so on. Plus, I want to get my hard landings and errant flights out of my system before upgrading to a more expensive model.Eventually, my game plan is actually low level flight between trees and later on with a much better drone, real estate videos inside house footage. But for now, my goal is simply to enjoy the art of precision flying the thing.Got the drone flying just fine, being the light weight it is, winds are a problem and I can actually deal with correcting for the winds with trimming with software as I do fly a single engine airplane. This drone doesn’t have GPS on it, just altitude holdNow, my quandary.I am wanting to walk around a hovering drone rather than the drone circle me. I put the software in headless mode. I end up getting a mirror type effect when I walk to the front of the drone (left becomes right, right becomes left, forward becomes back, backing up becomes forward).I would have thought that headless mode would correct for this but it’s not working out this way. If I stay to the rear of the drone (blue light side), and it circles me, all is good, headless mode works but when I walk around to the front of the drone (green light side), I get that mirror flying effect.I am using the iphone software instead of the hand controller that came with the drone. Is the software locked into the rear of the drone and I cannot walk around it while it’s hovering it or do I need to do something on the software side on the iPhone?I did toggle the headless mode on and off to see if it reset the orientation of where I was standing in relation to the drone but it really does get confusing if I got it going or not when I try to walk around to the front of the drone while hovering (standing on green light side).Hope someone understands my questions! via /r/drones https://ift.tt/36yKUrr
