The police didn't care that the Mini is 249g. "A drone is a drone," he said. "Take your toy and get the hell outta here".

The target area I wanted to fly in is a very popular touristic place that was rendered vacant because of the lockdown of the city. It is marked as an enhanced warning zone in the DJI Fly app. The Mini took off and asked me to assume full responsibility for flying there and then i started taking videos.2-3 minutes into the flight and a police car pulls over and asks me to take the drone down. I said "Why?"He said, "You cannot fly here," which is true for bigger drones. For them it's marked as a NFZ.I explained to him the legality of the 249g thing (which I'm 100% sure of) and he just didn't give 2 f***. He kept asking me to land it immediately and leave the premises.Obviously I was bummed and I felt he started to heat up so I didn't want to cause anymore trouble, I landed it in my hand and just left the area.Which leaves me wondering, did DJI fail dodging the legal legislations regarding drones? Or was it just a bad cop?Obviously the fact that the drone took off is a plus. In the same area I'm 100% sure a Mavic 2 Pro won't. I've shot a video of a similar place with a Mavic 2 Pro with a friend and the restrictions were much much more than for the Mavic Mini. via /r/drones https://ift.tt/2ymzlIN
