Remote ID?

Hi everyone,Been holding out buying my first drone for a few years now and with the Air 2 on the horizon I think it’s finally time to pull the trigger. However, the FAA Remote ID regulation has me pretty scared and second guessing. Is this still on track to pass? Is there any update or change? Not seeing much news online but I can’t justify the purchase if I have to pay for a data plan and broadcast its location any time it flies.
