Call me curious: Why are bird's eye view shots so interesting?

I just checked out the article for the 2020 Aerial Photography Award winners and noticed that most of them are top-down shots from bird's eye view. I've always found this the most powerful aerial shots, but haven't really articulated why. What is it about that composition that makes them so interesting to look at? via /r/drones https://ift.tt/34y4PJz
